Domestic violence is a challenging and often uncomfortable reality, affecting 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men. For survivors in shelters, the experience can feel isolating, compounding their sense of vulnerability and disconnection. At Emerge With Hope, we aim to disrupt this narrative by offering programs that promote healing, community, and empowerment.

Through the joyful and transformative movements of Zumba and yoga, we provide a much-needed escape from the weight of trauma. These classes offer more than just physical fitness—they spark moments of relief, connection, and hope. Witnessing the smiles, laughter, and sense of accomplishment on participants’ faces drives us to continue expanding our mission to bring light into these dark moments.

  • Empowering Mental Wellness: Our Zumba and yoga programs alleviate stress, reduce anxiety, and improve mental clarity. Participants leave feeling more balanced, relaxed, and confident.
  • Supporting Rehabilitative Shelters: We partner with domestic violence and other rehabilitative shelters to offer healing programs that support survivors as they rebuild their lives.
  • Physical and Emotional Health: Exercise boosts mood and energy. Our classes combine fitness with emotional renewal, creating a holistic approach to well-being.
  • Collaboration with Local Shelters: Partnering with organizations like Valley Oasis and Cherished LA, we extend our reach to shelters and their residents, fostering connections and shared growth.
  • Building Confidence and Strength: Our programs help participants reconnect with their inner power, promoting self-esteem and self-worth.
  • Safe and Inclusive Environment: Every class welcomes individuals of all fitness levels, providing a supportive and respectful atmosphere.
  • Accessible and Fun Fitness: We ensure our programs are free for those in need, offering vibrant and engaging classes that make wellness approachable.
  • Championing Resilience and Hope: At the heart of our mission is a commitment to inspire lasting transformation and remind participants of their innate strength and potential.
  • Supporting Small Businesses: We source all our supplies—yoga mats, gifts, and other essentials—from local small businesses, reinforcing our commitment to community empowerment.

Emerge With Hope is more than just a program; it’s a lifeline for those striving to reclaim their lives. By focusing on mental, emotional, and physical well-being, we provide survivors with the tools they need to rediscover joy, strength, and a sense of belonging. Together, we can help rebuild hope, one step at a time

About Exzetta Willis

Emerge With Hope Executive Director and Founder

Exzetta Willis

Hello! I’m Exzetta Willis, a licensed Zumba Instructor and the Executive Director and Founder of Emerge With Hope. I’ve been teaching Zumba and Zumba Toning for 8 years, whether it’s in the studio, virtually, or on-demand. My mission is simple: I want to make sure that no matter how your day is going, the hour we spend together leaves you feeling confident, capable, accomplished, and, of course, fit!

In 2023, I was honored to receive the Humanitarian of the Year Award from Zumba Fitness, Inc. for my Zumba and Zen program at the Valley Oasis Domestic Violence Shelter. Community is at the heart of everything I do, and I’m always excited to help you dance your way to health and happiness. In my classes, I create an environment where you can immerse yourself in the music and rhythms, letting go of the outside world for a bit.

As a domestic violence survivor and mother of two adult children, I found peace and healing through Zumba. It gave me the strength and courage to leave a difficult situation and rebuild my life. That personal transformation is what inspired me to share the power of Zumba with others facing similar challenges.

I created the Zumba and Zen program to bring the joy and empowerment of movement and music to clients in shelters, where such opportunities are often rare. I truly believe that just one hour of Zumba can help someone feel accomplished, confident, and strong. Through my classes, I aim to build a supportive, uplifting community, providing a sense of hope and self-empowerment, helping everyone emerge with renewed hope.
